Volunteer with Dads in Distress to
REDUCE MALE SUICIDE
Vision: Give every Aussie kid the best possible start in life
Mission: Keeping dads alive & in their kids lives
Strategy: Provide world class support to separated dads
What's in it for you?
“You may find that making a difference for others makes the biggest difference in you.” [Brian Williams].
Volunteering for DIDs is one of the very few places in Australia where you can measure and see your efforts directly save lives. We operate in small tight-knit teams with measurable outcomes - if keeping Aussie dads alive and in their kids' lives means anything to you, then this will be the most rewarding time you'll ever spend. And, we provide you FREE world class training in areas such as mens group work, suicide prevention, leadership and marketing.
Who do we need?
We need around 300 new volunteers heroes across Australia and there's a role for almost everyone. Some roles do have specific requirements but for the most part we're hiring three key volunteer categories:
Group Manager: Help us start and/or manage a local DIDs group.
Group Promoter: Help us connect to local community via social media, posters and networking.
Group Facilitator: Sit in the circle, handle the rock, run the support [open to peers only].
About Dads in Distress
Dads in Distress, or DIDs, started out on a verandah in Coffs Harbour on Fathers' Day, 1999. We started with one separated dad sitting on that verandah and soon there were many sitting alongside him and at other groups across the country. We've never forgotten our humble origins or what made it work back then. Today, our groups are still facilitated by other separated dads, everything we do is 100% free, male (dad) friendly, confidential and non-judgemental. It works and works well. All we need do now is make it available in more places. Help us do that. Read more at www.dids.org.au
